After graduating Covina High, I attended San Diego State (Alan Leiberman was also there) for about 5 years, and earned enough units to be a junior. I ran a gardening business, and off-set printed a little poetry magazine, and met my future wife (34 yrs now) through my Sigma Pi faternity.
After Colleen graduated we married and moved about for a few years before settling here in California's Great Central Valley. I finally earned my BA and teaching credential in '85. More recently trained as a Reading Recovery Teacher. Colleen is a RRT, RN, and now holds the position of COO of a Health Care Provider in this area. Our boys are grads of UCLA and UCSB (had way too much fun, but I could not throw myself up as an example).
I got my first book of poems, Violins, published, in limited edition, by Finishing Line Press (Georgetown, KY) in 2004. It is out-of-print, even if Amazon.com still lists it... My volunteerism here in Modesto include Saturday soccer as a field marshall (no more refereeing, I have had both knees replaced), host of poetry readings at our downtown art gallery, board member of our PFLAG chapter, checkbook member of local ACLU and local Peace/Life Center, and attend at least three Saturday morning pancake breakfast a year.
